Beard Spunk ® Ingredients

Please check the label of your Beard Spunk product to ensure you know the exact content; from time-to-time we vary the ingredient to cater for the availability in raw material and improvement in formula. Our products are never tested on animals and where possible we look for the most ethically produced raw ingredients. This does mean that on occasion a product may become unavailable without notice.

Most of our grooming products contain a combination of ingredients that support that of another, not all essential oils are listed. They are however outlined in the title and on the packaging.

COMMONLY USED:

ARGAN OIL (Argania spinosa)

A plant oil produced from the kernels of the argan tree (Argania spinosa) Argan is a moisturizing oil, works against acne vulgaris and flaking of the skin, as well as for 'nourishing' the hair. The argan tree is found primarily in Morocco, where its nutritional oil is eaten. The oil from argan tree kernels contains about 45-55% oleic acid, 28-36% linoleic acid, 10-15% palmitic acid and 5-7% stearic acid.

BEESWAX (CERA ALBA)

Beeswax (cera alba) is a natural wax produced by honey bees of the genus Apis. The wax is formed into "scales" by eight wax-producing glands in the abdominal segments of worker bees, which discard it in or at the hive. The hive workers collect and use it to form cells for honey storage and larval and pupal protection within the beehive. Chemically, beeswax consists mainly of esters of fatty acids and various long-chain alcohols.

CASTOR OIL (Ricinus Communis)

A vegetable oil obtained by pressing the seeds of the castor oil plant (Ricinus Communis). Castor helps promote hair growth by improving cirulation to the hair follicle, helps reduce dandruff and other dry skin ailments to the skin, hair and nails. The seeds contain between 40% and 60% oil that is rich in triglycerides, mainly ricinolein.

COCOA BUTTER (Ricinus Communis)

Also called theobroma oil, is a pale-yellow, edible vegetable fat extracted from the cocoa bean. It is used to make chocolate, as well as some ointments, toiletries, and pharmaceuticals. Cocoa butter has a cocoa flavor and aroma. Its best-known attribute is its melting point, which is just below human body temperature. Cocoa butter is one of the most stable fats known, a quality that, coupled with natural antioxidants, prevents rancidity, giving it a storage life of two to five years. It's widely used as a rich moisturizer.

COCONUT (COCOS NUCIFERA) OIL

Extracted from the kernels of the seeds of coconut palm, cocos nucifera. A fragrance ingredient, hair and skin conditioner and fatty acid rich healing oil that boasts anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and antiviral properties.

JOJOBA (Simmondsia Chinensis)

Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil is obtained by pressing the seed kernels of an evergreen shrub native to the Sonoran and Mojave deserts of Arizona, California and Mexico. This oil is different from other common plant oils in that it is composed almost completely (97%) of wax esters of monounsaturated, straight-chain acids and alcohols with high molecular weights (carbon chain lengths from 36 to 46).

SHEA BUTTER (BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII)

A vegetable fat obtained from the fruit of a tree native to Africa, Butyrospermum parkii. Shea butter is primarily composed of fatty acids such as stearic and oleic acids. Used as a skin conditioning agent and boasts anti-inflammatory properties.

VITAMIN E (TOCOPHEROL)

An antioxidant.
